Valentine’s Day Crime Scene Investigation Junior: nature of science SEP

Explore the nature of science with this fun winter Crime Scene Investigation suited for grades 2 and 3. Students examine evidence using careful observations to determine who is responsible for writing an anonymous Valentine’s Day card.

This is a simplified version of the original The Case of the Anonymous Valentine for grades 4–6.

Materials Needed:

· 5–9x12 manilla envelopes

· 2 or more different scents (can be from essential oil, perfume, air freshener, etc.)

· 5 Cotton balls

· 5 Zip top bags

· 4 pages total need to be printed in color- these can be used by the whole class.

· Addition materials listed in activity are optional
