Description
These Valentine's Day activities include games, writing, math, and general classroom items. Two games- Fast-Thinking Game and Say It, can be used over and over again in lots of ways. A letter-writing activity focuses on traits of writing and the components of a letter. There are two Math Activities that focus on many different math concepts- fractions, decimals, graphing, and more. There is also a set of Valentine’s Day Sticker Charts to keep students motivated. You can read about each individual resource below:
Valentine’s Day Fast-Thinking Game is a wonderfully fun game that requires vocabulary and word work practice. This is a Valentine’s Day themed game so all of the descriptive words that the students generate must be related to the holiday. Just follow the same rules as the original game (directions are included). I encourage students to work in groups so that they can learn from each other. All you have to do is choose a letter as the beginning letter for each descriptive word. This also works well as a literacy center once students know how to play. It can also be used for your class or personal party or as a fun alternative during indoor recess.
What's Included:
- Student Game Boards with Directions
- Teacher Information
Valentine’s Day Say It Game is a really great oral language activity for elementary and middle school. Students work against the clock to get their teammates to guess the Key word at the top of their game card without using any of the forbidden words that are on the card. This requires that they use vocabulary and oral language skills to describe words, themes, and concepts related to Valentine’s Day.
What’s Included:
- directions page
- three pages of game cards (18 total cards)
- one page of blank cards in case you want to make your own
- a scoring sheet
Valentine’s Day Writing Activity with Rubric is an expository writing activity that requires students to write a letter to someone to explain why that person is important in their life. You can use this as an opportunity to assess students' writing skills. There is a rubric included.
What’s Included:
- Directions and planner for the assignment- write a letter to a person who you appreciate. Explain two different reasons why you feel that way, and support your reasons with details.
- A rubric that focuses on the elements of a letter, basic conventions, ideas and focus.
- Valentine themed writing paper
Valentine’s Day Math with Candy Hearts: Fractions, Graphing, Comparing Numbers, and More- uses candy hearts or colored paper hearts (included) for students to explore different math concepts. Students will be responsible for making a reasonable guess, determining a fraction, converting a fraction to a percent, comparing whole numbers, creating a frequency chart, creating a pie chart, and creating a bar graph.
The level of difficulty for your students can be adjusted based on the number of hearts put in each bag. For example, if you fill each bag with a number of hearts that can easily be converted from a fraction to a percent, such as 10 or 20, they will not have to use decimals for their percents. You could also put different amounts in each bag so that students really have to do their own work. They could trade and “check” the work of another student who has a different number of hearts. They might not even realize they are learning!
What’s Included:
- Student Activity Sheets
- Colored Hearts (if you don’t want to use candy hearts)
Valentine's Day Math with Conversation Hearts uses Valentine conversation hearts (or paper hearts- included) to teach or reinforce the concept of converting fractions to percent and decimals.
Make sure each student gets a bag or collection of hearts. First, they write the fractions to represent the portion of each color they have. Then, they turn that into a fraction and finally a percent.

Valentine’s Day Sticker Chart Set is colorful and fun for everyone. Each chart has 20 spaces for stickers and has a line where student names can be written. There are 4 charts per page. You can use them as a positive behavior tool, for homework tracking, or for any other reason that works for you. They add a little pizzazz to the classroom right when you need it!
These are small enough to be used on top of student desks, or they can be displayed somewhere in the classroom. Otherwise, put them in any place that works best for you. Each of the 27 pages has four sticker charts on it with spaces for 20 stickers.
You'll never have to buy Valentine’s Day sticker charts again because you can print these whenever you need them.
