Description

Practice addition OR subtraction with this fun and engaging Valentine’s Day math craft! This low-prep craft is JUST what you need to make math a little extra exciting around Valentine’s Day!

This Valentine craft includes an addition craft option, as well as a subtraction craft.

In the addition math craft option, your kids will choose a number of hearts to put IN and OUT the jar. Then they will fill in the word problem to show how many hearts there are in all.

In the subtraction craft option, your kids will put some hearts IN the jar and some OUT of the jar to show the ones they gave to friends. Then they will fill in the word problem to show how many hearts they have left.

This Valentine’s Day addition craft (or subtraction craft!) is super easy to differentiate - help your kids choose an addition or subtraction fact at their level in order to show a problem that they are able to work with!

Inside this Valentine craft, you will find:

Valentine Addition Craft

  • hearts and jar pieces
  • two addition word problem choices

Valentine Subtraction Craft

Tips for use in the classroom:

✅Copy the addition or subtraction hearts for your kiddos.

✅You can give your kids a certain number of hearts or let them choose how many to use!

✅Then your kids will color, cut, and put together their Valentine jars - some hearts in the jar and some out of the jar. Glue on a large sheet of construction paper. (The paper in the sample photo is 12 x 18 inches.)

✅Once their Valentine jars are together, they can fill in their word problem piece.

✅These make a cute display too!

Math crafts are a great way to end the week, practice a skill, and are perfect to leave in your sub plans too! This Valentine’s Day math craft is the perfect addition to your February plans!
