Upcycling T-Shirt to a Bag - ST3-13MW, ST2-13MW, ST3-16P, ST2-16P

Using this 7 page Notebook, students discuss what materials different bags are made from (e.g. plastic bags, green bags, calico bags and hessian bags). After recording of ideas and discussion, students are shown an image of a t-shirt and asked what a t-shirt and bags have in common.

The term 'upcycling' is then introduced. Students discuss difference between term 'upcycling' and 'recycling' and potential positives (e.g. life of a product extended before it is recycled). Students then design their own labelled drawing of an upcycled t-shirt bag.
