Description

*Must have a Google Drive Account!*

Celebrate some of history's forgotten heroes with your students!

This essay is designed to provide students with an engaging topic to research and write about. Students will answer the prompt:

Who are the unsung heroes of history? You will select an unsung hero from the provided list. You will conduct research to collect information about the hero you choose. After researching your chosen hero, you will write an essay in MLA format where you will argue why your chosen hero should be called a hero and why they should be celebrated for their accomplishments.

This assignment is ready to assign: introduce unsung heroes to your students, allow students to pick their own hero, then allow students to write!

This assignment can be used for multiple grade levels and unsung heroes (although a list has been provided for you and your students!)

Your download will include:

  • Introduction activity (discussion and video)
  • Google Form for topic selection (direction for choice elimination included!)
  • Editable Topic and Rubric Document (post/print for students)
  • Profiles and Website for Research on Unsung Heroes
