Description
Area is the measure of the number of unit squares needed to cover a flat surface. Students will be presented with shapes made up of square units. They will need to count the number of square units to identify the area of the shape. In the 4th grade, students will use the area formula (A=L x W) to calculate the area of rectangles, but not in 3rd grade. Students are simply responsible for counting square units.
How can we calculate the area of a given shape?
