Description

In total, nearly 200 chapter context questions and teacher answer key will help guide discussion as you read this harrowing tale of survival and save you valuable time so you can focus on the important things in your unit!

Unbroken (YA edition) is a young adult adaptation of a book of the same title written by Laura Hildebrand. Illustrated with more than one hundred photographs taken by the main character and his family, this book tells the harrowing true story of an airman who endures an unbelievable 47-day ordeal on a liferaft in the South Pacific. Louie Zamperini, an Olympic hopeful, goes from star athlete, to selfless serviceman and then POW.

Hildebrand captures the raw savagery of war, the pains of enduring tribulations and suffering, and ultimately the faith and forgiveness that allows Zamperini to survive the war’s tests and return to his family. Ultimately a story of humanity’s triumphs and challenges, Unbroken captures the rawness experienced by prisoners of war and the restoration of self through healing that comes after a life-changing event.

At its core is a story of forgiveness, faith, and overcoming the harshest of obstacles. Louie Zamperini shows readers of all ages what perseverance and optimism play in the darkest of hours.
