Description

Do you struggle with integrating ELA into your social studies curriculum? If so, this Economy and Natural Resources of the U.S. Northeast Unit is your answer. It was created to be used as a supplement to your district’s social studies curriculum. Most social studies textbooks have lots of information but are not engaging for the students. Not so with this resource!

The students will discover what natural resources are found in the Northeast Region and how these resources impact the economy. There are five ELA integrated lessons:

Lesson 1 – What is a Natural Resources and Their Impact on the Economy

Lesson 4 – Sugar Maple Trees (Sap)

- High-Interest Passage w/ 20-Word Summary

- Cornell Note-Taking Printout

- Annotation/Coding Option

Lesson 5 – Overfishing (marine life depletion)

- High-Interest Passage w/ Find the Main Idea

- Compare/Contrast Graphic Organizer w/ fish mobile craft

- Annotation/Coding Option

Bonus Lesson – Write a narrative from the perspective of a natural resource
