Description
Here's everything you need to teach social studies lessons on why we have rules, citizenship, rights and responsibilities, and branches of the U.S. Government. There are 5 lessons that include exit slips and task card assessments. Each lesson includes discussion for students to engage in speaking and listening.
Day 1: Why do we have rules? Included is an informational reading and worksheet practice, discussion cards, speaking bubble sentence starters for discussion, and an exit slip.
Day 2: Laws in the Community. Included is an informational reading and worksheet practice, cause and effect poster, pocket chart slips for discussion, and an exit slip.
Day 3: How Laws are Made. Included is an informational reading on the 3 Branches of Government and context clue worksheet match, pocket chart class discussion game on Who's Job is it? (legislative, executive, or judicial), and an exit slip.
Day 4: Citizens Can Help. Included is an informational reading and worksheet practice, pocket chart discussion cards to help with writing on good citizenship, and an exit ticket.
Day 5: Rights and Responsibilities: Included is an informational reading and worksheet practice and 24 task cards for review or assessment.
Also included are a vocabulary word search and a writing outline and paper for Why Rules are Important, and answer keys.
