Description

This resource is designed to teach the U.S. Election process to U.S. Government/AP® U.S. Government classes. Key themes include: nomination, primaries/caucuses, national conventions, modern day campaigning, general elections, the four models of voting behavior, incumbency advantage, the Electoral College, etc. Students will come away from this lesson with knowledge about the timeline and process of elections. The resource includes an engaging 20-slide Power Point/Google Slides lecture (infused with several different video clip links), a warm-up, four pages of fill-in-the-blank cloze notes, an election timeline handout, and two ideas for extension activities. This comprehensive resource can be used over the course of two days and pairs well with my other political participation resources (see below). In addition, the resources are editable!

*The power point is available in Google Slides- just open the teacher directions document to find the link and save a copy to your Drive.

* The notes are available as an editable word doc and a fillable PDF.
