    This Types and Systems of Government Bundle for Civics & American Government includes articles and YouTube videos that cover vocabulary terms and key ideas on forms and systems of government, from types of government like democracy, monarchy, and oligarchy, to confederal, federal, and unitary systems, and the difference between parliamentary and presidential systems. This resource is suitable for middle school Civics, American History, or American Government students.

    Who makes the decisions in a Unitary government? How do you think life in a dictatorship would differ from life in a democratic country?

    Aligned to the Florida State standard for Middle School Civics, Standard 3: Demonstrate an understanding of the principles, functions, and organization of government, these resources teach the forms and systems of government in an engaging, easy-to-understand way. Articles cover key concepts and vocabulary and come with fun sidebars that link to YouTube videos related to the material, while the task cards and review games reinforce

    ✯ The Types of Government Interactive Article & Review, compatible with Florida Standard SS.7.CG.3.1: Forms of Government, includes a 3-page article that introduces students to the following forms of government:

    • Autocracy
    • Monarchy (Constitutional & Absolute)
    • Dictatorship
    • Democracy (Direct & Indirect)
    • Oligarchy
    • Theocracy
    • Anarchy

    The sidebars include links to the following videos:

    In addition to the article, there is a Who Rules? note-taking page for students to write down key facts about each type of government as they read the article, as well as a Vocabulary Match & Short Response Reflection that asks students to match the forms of government to their definitions and to answer the following question:

    • How do you think life in a dictatorship would differ to life in a democratic country?

    ✯ In the Systems of Government Article & Review, compatible with Florida Standard SS.7.CG.3.2. Systems of Government, students read a 3-page article that covers the basics about the following systems of government:

    • Unitary
    • Confederal
    • Federal
    • Presidential
    • Parliamentary

    As well as a one-page review that includes a vocabulary match as well as a section for notes on Unitary, Confederal, and Federal systems, which asks students to define and illustrate each term.

    The videos included in these products require District Access to YouTube. The video sidebars can be omitted, though!
