Turkey in Disguise

This is one of my ALL-TIME favorite student activities! This packet includes:
-a letter (written by Mr. Turkey) to send home to parents
-a template of Mr. Turkey to print and copy for each student
-page of photographs of previously disguised turkeys to print or email
-ideas for turkey disguises
-paper for extending the project into a drawing/writing activity. The writing paper comes in 2 formats, 2-lined paper and 3-lined paper.
-samples writings from my students

In the letter, the turkey pleads for help to avoid becoming Thanksgiving dinner. The turkey gives suggestions for possible disguises to be used. I show the page of photos to my students AND email it to my classroom parents. This is a great resource for those families that need some inspiration for disguising their turkey. I strongly encourage parental involvement for this project.

You can extend the project with a writing activity. A journal page is included in this packet. My 1st graders write from the perspective of the turkey. They tell why they chose the disguise and how they plan on avoiding becoming Thanksgiving dinner.

I think the older grades would love this project, too! It could be used as a take home project, creative writing project, or just for FUN in the classroom. Older students will be able to complete this project independently from home or in the classroom.
