Turkey Trouble Speech Therapy Thanksgiving Book Companion NOW WITH BOOM CARDS

Make your Thanksgiving-themed therapy easy with this book companion for Turkey Trouble! This companion gives you a variety of low prep, hands-on activities for many of your common preschool language goals. *Now includes BOOM card story pieces*

Activities target vocabulary, plurals, WH questions, yes/no questions, sequencing/retelling, basic concepts, and categories.

Here's exactly what you get:

• BOOM Cards: Story piece BOOM cards to dress Turkey in each of his disguises. Sentence strips are included on each slide to help your students use a complete sentence to describe each costume (e.g. "Turkey is a pig" "Turkey is a horse" etc...)

• Story character + prop printables for acting out the story and story retell. Use the story props to act out the book as you read, to recreate the story. Great hands-on activity! Both large and small props are included, for use at circle or small group therapy. Ideas for play with a farm toy set are included.

• Visual sentence strips to pair with scene depiction visuals. Use these visual supports to aid your students in commenting on what Turkey has disguised himself as. Use for expanding utterances, pronoun "he," fill-ins, or as a carrier phrase for fluency.

• Sequencing the Story: No prep. Cut out pictures, color, and glue them on according to the order they appeared in the story. This is a great activity to send home with your students so they can tell their parents the story, too!

• Vocabulary smash mat: 1 full color and 1 with minimal color to save ink . These can also be used as comprehension question visuals (smash the correct answer)

• Plurals smash mat: 1 full color and 1 with minimal color to save ink . Target plurals with characters/items from the story.

• Question Mats: Characters, objects, and settings from the story to work on vocabulary, WH and yes/no questions. Two visual answer choices are given for each question. 2 mats for yes/no questions, 2 mats for “what” questions, 1 mat for “who” questions. Leave as whole pages or laminate and cut apart and place cards in a sensory bin.

• Categories: Set the Table! activity to target expressively naming items in given categories.

• Basic Concept Smash Mats: 12 mats in all, 4 sets. Target concepts big and small using play dough to create characters/objects from the story (sheep, horse, cow, pizza) Each set includes a mat to target concepts individually (2) and together (1). Use for expanding utterances or following directions, too!
