Description

Students solve problems where they must find a trigonometric value of any angle, find reference angles, and evaluate trigonometric functions of real numbers in trigonometry in this engaging, self-checking, no-prep circuit activity. The digital version uses Google Forms. The printable version is a non-editable pdf.

How many questions are there?

  • There are 16 questions.

What types of questions are included?

  • Determine in which quadrant an angle lies when given the sign of two trig functions.
  • Find the reference angle of an angle measured in degrees.
  • Find the reference angle of an angle measured in radians, including a radian measure that is not a multiple of pi (e.g. find the reference angle of 2 radians.")
  • Find the value of a trig function that is in standard position when given a specific point that lies on its terminal side.
  • Find the value of a trig function of θ when given the quadrant in which θ lies and the value of another trig function of θ (e.g. Find sinθ, if θ is in quadrant I and cosθ=3/5).

Look at the Preview to see sample problems.

How does the printable version work?

  • Students begin with the problem in the top left. They answer the question and find the answer somewhere else and write “2” in the blank.
  • Students then solve *that* problem, find the answer and write “3” in the blank and so on until they have solved every problem and returned to the beginning.

How does the digital version work?

  • After a student enters their email address, name, and period, they are taken to question 1. The student answers question 1 and finds their answer among the 15 choices. They are taken to a different question based on their answer.
  • If a student answers question 1 correctly, they will be taken to question 2. If a student chooses the wrong answer for question 1, they will be taken to a different question, e.g. question 5. If this happens, the student can click on Back to go back to the previous question and try again.
  • After a student answers all questions correctly, they will be taken to the “Congratulations” screen where they can submit their answers.

What do I need?

  • You will need to have a Google account which is free.
  • You do NOT need to have Google Classroom, although instructions for how to send the Form in Google Classroom are included.

What do I get if I buy this product?

  • Access to the link to the Google Form
  • Clear instructions for how to get the link, how to send the Form to the students, how to see your students' results, and how to change other settings.
  • A NON EDITABLE pdf of the circuit for the printable version.
  • The answer key.

Understand radian measure of an angle as the length of the arc on the unit circle subtended by the angle.
Explain how the unit circle in the coordinate plane enables the extension of trigonometric functions to all real numbers, interpreted as radian measures of angles traversed counterclockwise around the unit circle.
