- Google Docs™
Description
This is a scripted trial designed to introduce or review Andrew Jackson's presidency. Students are divided into up to 13 groups to participate in this scripted trial. The trial explores the The Election of 1824, The Battle of New Orleans, The Indian Removal Act, Veto of the Second National Bank, and The Nullification Crisis.
Each section of testimony includes visual evidence to support the information presented in the testimony. A vocabulary list, a vocabulary sorting activity, a supplemental article, and a final writing activity are included with this download.
This activity is designed to be used with late middle school or high school students. Stronger readers and stronger students will enjoy the trial simulation, specifically AP and Honors students. However, various groups can be eliminated to make the trial shorter and more accessible to younger students.
Completion of the trial and the supplemental activities will take approximately 120 minutes.
