What educators are saying
My students loved completing this as part of their centers activities. Such a great activity to add to my note reading unit.
Description
If you’re not hungry now, you will be soon! Getting your students to learn note names in treble clef has never been more delicious! This pizza themed, treble clef matching activity is guaranteed to hook your students in and ensure engagement while reinforcing the note names in treble clef. Designed with versatility in mind, this activity can be a print & go for individual work and/or as a centers rotation.
This lesson couldn’t be simpler to implement (it’s also a great activity to leave with a sub!).
For individual work:
- Print a packet for each student
- Have students cut out the toppings (music alphabet letters) and glue/tape them to the pizza with the matching note(s) on the staff
For centers:
- Have students work together to match the toppings (A-G) to the pizza with the matching note(s) on the staff
- If you want to extend, have them play the notes on a pitched instrument (xylophone, ukulele, recorder, etc.)
What’s included:
- 12 treble clef pizza placemats with notes ranging from Middle C-High G
- 10 treble clef pizzas with 3-4 letter words notated on the staff
- 8 pages with toppings (mushrooms, pepperoni, onions, peppers) to be cut out
- One single page with note names: A-G
- 7 pages of toppings with only one note name (ex: whole page of only “C”)
- Bonus page of pizzas with an empty staff for students to compose their own words
- Clear directions with suggestions on how to prepare, implement, and extend the activity
