Engage your students in Andy Mulligan's 'Trash' and extend their creative, critical and analytical thinking with this hands-on student workbook.

Students will complete comprehension questions to help them understand key aspects of each chapter before analysing the key themes of poverty, child labour, corruption and waste mismanagement. Students will keep dive into the real life examples of poverty and waste mismanagement - helping them to engage and understand the real world implications for children living on dumpsites such as Raphael, Rat and Gardo. These key themes will become a springboard for students to practice their persuasive writing skills, as they are prompted to argue why these global issues must be dealt with to make the world a better place.

This workbook will also develop your students' creative writing as they identify Mulligan's stylistic devices and the impact they have on readers, as well as analysing the impact of sensory description. Students will have the opportunity to write creatively as they rewrite setting descriptions using the five senses.

Of course a little bit of fun is needed amongst all of this comprehending, analysing and creative writing - this workbook also contains TWO word searches to keep students engaged and having fun as they complete their novel study.
