Transportation: Common Core History Unit

This mini unit encompases history, writing, math, and ELA lessons tied to K-1 Common Core Standards. Take students back in time and learn about the critical decisions Abraham Lincoln made by encouraging the construction of The Transcontinental Railroad.
A short script is included for the teacher to narrate the key events of the "Wedding of the Rails". Students can easily act out these events and retell this moment in history. Retelling of key events in stories is an important common core standard. There are also center activities and writing activities to publish onto "train track" paper. This unit is a fun way to teach our students at a young age about America's history.
