Transcendentalism: Introduction to Emerson and Thoreau, 9 Principles

Students are introduced to the major themes of Transcendentalism. Also included are a fun assignment concerning the themes, questions on an excerpt from Emerson's "Nature," biographical info on Thoreau, a brief overview of "Civil Disobedience," three video clips to watch from a recent movie that uses "Civil Disobedience," and Thoreau's 9 Transcendentalist Principles. (The duration of 4 days includes the reading of the "Nature" excerpt.)
