    Description

As the wildflowers begin to bloom, lead your students to discover Tomie dePaola with The Legend of the Bluebonnet and The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush. These inspiring legends are ideal for spring novel studies, and you will love sharing them with your students! Your students will love learning about legends and wildflowers and, with these fun activities, won't even realize how much they're learning!

I have reviewed these products to ensure they are appropriate in depicting Native Americans. If you do not wish to use any part of the product, you are welcome to leave out those slides. Students have the option of doing their own research about the Comanche culture.

This unit is a tribute to Lady Bird Johnson, who brought the beauty of the wildflowers to Austin, the Texas hill country, and other U.S. cities. Lady Bird wanted all children to enjoy their beauty. If you ever visit Austin, I hope you visit the Lady Bird Wildflower Center to learn about native plants, observe the butterfly garden and learn about the research being done by scientists.

Teachers love this activity because it provides the option of using the Google Slides or printables.
