This resource was inspired by Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Taking time to create emotionally safe spaces and have important conversations aids the personal and interpersonal development of humans. This is a transformative task that builds character, community, and culture. I utilized these mini lessons with my 5th and 7th-grade science classes. After warm-ups each day we would use this time to connect, reset, and remember that it's okay to try again. I have seen firsthand how impactful these lessons can be as they transformed students suffering post-lockdowns into a caring community that prioritizes compassion, tolerance, and self-care. This was by far the best part of my day. I hope it brings some sunshine to your students/children/self as well.
