This was a great resource for teaching text structures with our second graders. It tied in perfectly to our Titanic unit.
I love how all the articles are on the same overall topic; however, dicusses different aspects of this historical event. Students loved reading and learning about the Titanic.

This bundle includes our Titanic Nonfiction Text Structures Unit where students will learn about 5 common nonfiction text structures, as well as our Titanic Activities Enrichment Pack with activities to help students delve deeper into the story of the Titanic. Both products will have students engaged and excited to learn!

    The Titanic Nonfiction Text Structures product contains:

    • Interactive Notes- Use these to introduce your students to the concept of nonfiction text structures and the keywords found in each example.

    • Text Structure Posters- Bright and colorful posters designed to help your students remember the definition of each text structure. 

    • Titanic Reading Passages- Five original one page articles about the Titanic with each one showcasing a different text structure. 

    • Comprehension Questions: Each article comes with 2 pages of comprehension activities.

    • Text Structures Test: Use this test at the end of your Titanic unit to assess your students' understanding of the 5 text structures taught.

    The Titanic Activities Enrichment Pack contains:

    • Titanic Book List- A list of engaging books for children all about the Titanic.

    • Life in 1912- An infographic with information about life in 1912 and a writing prompt to compare life in the past with today. 

    • Passenger Profiles- Nine profiles of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class passengers that were on the Titanic. 

    • Titanic Passengers Comparison-Students will choose two passengers from different classes and compare them.

    • Titanic Conspiracy Theories- An article and  comprehension questions about conspiracy theories around the sinking of the Titanic.

    • The Route of the Titanic- A map with questions about the Titanic’s route.

    • Timeline of Events- A timeline of important events on the night of the crash.

    • Titanic Elapsed Time- Students will use the timeline to solve elapsed time problems using a number line and t-chart.

    • Reading a Table- Students will practice reading a table and use addition and subtraction  to answer questions.
