Tinkercad - Create an Invention

3D Modeling and design provide AMAZING ways for students to practice their STEM (STEAM) skills.  This EDITABLE GOOGLE DOCUMENT combines digital skills AND writing skills, persuasive writing, argumentative writing, creative writing as well as economic awareness as it guides students through the design and invention process by simulating a patent application. 

Students will:

Create an invention disclosure document by stating what problem they will solve in society (research and argumentative writing)

Design a prototype of their item

Explain HOW each component in their invention is projected to function (explanatory writing)

Detail the functionality of each component (creative writing)

Describe the how the product will operate

Establish a marketing strategy (persuasive/argumentative writing)

When the invention has been 'approved' by the patent office, students can create in Tinkercad design software (FREE).  Suggestions are given as to how to showcase student work.
