Description

Introduce the three branches of government: executive branch, legislative branch, and judicial branch, and the concept of the balance of power and the system of checks and balances. PowerPoint reviews some basic history of the Constitution, explains how the Constitution and our founding fathers laid out the structure of the government, the separation of powers, how Congress is divided into the House of Representatives and the Senate, the role of the President, Vice-President, and Cabinet, the function of the Supreme Court, and how each one has powers over the other, and how the people have power as the voters to elect officials into office. It has a link to a video "Hail to the Chief" with lyrics.

Includes photos of the Capitol Building, The White House, and the Supreme Court Building, Joseph Biden and Kamala Harris, and the current Supreme Court justices, with an infographic to show how the balance of power works. Includes 10-question review, and a constructed response, and a 5-question self-checking quiz. Slides are animated for interest. Presentation is EDITABLE for your own classroom needs. 53 slides.
