What educators are saying

My students loved using the reader's theater portion in small groups! The activities were great for sequencing and my students were really engaged. They need all the practice they can get with cutting and gluing, so that was an added bonus for me!
We loved this! I used in my intervention small group for Halloween as something fun and different to try and it was a hit! Thank you!

Description

This book by Lucille Colandro is a favorite of children everywhere! This Reader's Theater will enable the children to enjoy the story even more as well as increase reading fluency and speaking skills.

There are roles for four students, and the script comes in a color-coded version for your convenience, also!

A headband/necklace master is included in case you'd like to read this script at an assembly, to the class next door, to your own class, etc!

Have fun, and feel free to change in any way that best suits your particular needs.

Story Activities Included:

A beginning, middle, and ending worksheet

A cut-and-paste noun worksheet

My favorite part of the story worksheet

Two story maps--one is blank for illustrating or for students who can't yet write on the lines--the other one has lines--you might do them back to back (draw on one side and write on the other!)

Two different sequencing activities--one has only pictures, the other has sentences

A story-retelling craft in which the students pull the objects through the old lady's mouth
Colorful pictures that portray the events of the story

Sentences that explain the events of the story on cards

What spell would you like the wizard to cast?

Adjectives for all the objects that the old lady swallowed

ABC order of words from the story
