Then and Now a Social Studies Unit

The unit is titled “Then and Now”. The basis of the unit is a comparison of life in different eras in American history to the students’ current life. The unit is intended for a second grade class. The repetend for the unit is “Same but Different, Yesterday and Today”. The unit covers social studies, reading, and writing standards. The California standards for the unit are listed below. The unit should take --- weeks. The most appropriate time to teach the unit is the month of November leading up to Thanksgiving. A planning calendar follows the list of standards. This unit was written when I was working on my masters degree. It has a good list of literature to use. The unit includes reading, writing, and social studies activities.
