What educators are saying

This was fun and engaging. My students really enjoyed this and it helped them to visualize the theme really well.

Description

This slideshow can be used as an introduction to or review of theme and how to find the moral/life lesson of a story. It is split into 2 days of instruction, but you can also pick and choose parts to use to teach the review in one day. "Let Them Play" by Margot Theis Raven is a suggested read aloud to use. There are also slides with song lyrics and links to the videos of these song lyrics. Work with the students to teach, model, and practice how to find the theme of a story using both the book and the different songs. Song lyrics include "Sunday Best" by Surfaces, "Let Her Go" by Passenger, "Rise Up" by Andra Day, "The Show Goes On" by Lupe Fiasco, "The Voice Within" by Christina Aguilera, "Titanium" by Sia, and "Man In The Mirror" by Michael Jackson.
