Theatre / Drama Character Scene Analysis Form

This form comes from years of teaching theatre and directing plays. One of the most important keys for students to be successful in acting is character analysis. Most actors don't like to do it but this form is short and and the kids find it very helpful.

It asks several short questions based on what the character wants/needs in a specific scene helping the actor to find their objective, motivation, and helps them understand the given circumstances. It also help the student find the emotion and establish relationships with other characters.

There is also section that helps the actor discover which words to stress in a sentence and has a section of scoring their lines with action verbs. Because "acting" is "doing" when actors can summarize their lines into a single actable action verb, it helps them find and play the action of the scene.

I have also included a list of possible action verbs that can be used.

I have found this form very useful in all plays and specially in UIL OAP (one act play.)
