What educators are saying

We enjoyed this resource and used it as a basis for our costume design unit. Once they had the sketch, we had them create it using plastic trash bags, wire and string. It was a hit!
Amazing sub plan. Also used it with a STEM camp this summer. It’s fun to teach, and it can take awhile for them to finish. Their engagement was off the charts!

Description

Looking for an engaging and self-guided project for your theater classroom that even the most inexperienced sub can facilitate? Need something of value for your students to work on while you cross some things off of your to-do list?

This print and go packet leads students through a simplified version of the costume design process. It could last one or two class periods depending on the length of your classes. Simple 15 point rubric included for easy grading.

Students take on the role of a costume designer for a small theater company that will be producing a post-apocalyptic adaptation of the story “Little Red Cap", an early version of "Little Red Riding Hood". They will read the story, analyze a director's concept, brainstorm ideas, and then design a costume for Red, Grandmother, Huntsman, or Wolf.
