    Description

This is the ULTIMATE Back to School SEL Bundle! Here are the resources it includes:

*Happy Kids SEL Alphabet: An Alphabet of Feelings

*"Our Caring Community SEL Curriculum (5 units- 22 lessons)

The "Happy Kids A-Z" SEL alphabet is a resource I plan to use as both a tool for discussion as well as a display in our classroom! This resource includes 26 beautiful real-world image posters of kids and words that inspire kids to feel. Each of these posters is a wonderful tool for social-emotional learning discussion.

The "Our Caring Community" SEL curriculum is easy-to-use and includes 5 units and 22 detailed lessons FULL of printables, mini-posters, anchor charts, and hands-on activities! This curriculum will teach your students everything SEL from basic mental health skills to important life skills.

This curriculum would work wonderfully for students Kindergarten through Second grade.

You can use this curriculum during morning meetings, circle time, end of the day lessons, and across reading and writing content areas.

    WHY SEL?

The foundation of every strong classroom community is built upon social-emotional learning. Before students can be ready to learn, they need to feel safe, loved, and valued.

I firmly believe that social-emotional learning skills must be explicitly taught in every classroom. Many students do not come to school with these basic social-emotional skills. Because of this, students may not know what it means to identify and talk about their feelings, how to make a friend, or use coping skills in stressful situations. These are life skills that when taught will set our students up for success well beyond our classrooms.

Research shows that when we implement Social-Emotional Learning into our teaching, students build resilience which helps them deal with trauma and other life challenges. There is also research that shows SEL leads to behavior improvements, and increased academic performance.

SEL brings parents, educators, and students together working on the same team. We all want the best for our kids and providing them with SEL tools and resources is a step in the right direction.

What does "Our Caring Community" SEL Curriculum cover?

Unit 1: Self Awareness- Teaches students how to identify and describe their feelings, concepts of identity, ways to care for themselves and practice self love, how to have a growth mindset, and how to set goals.

Unit 2: Self Management- Teaches students how to perform check-ins and the importance of self-monitoring on a routine basis, how to self-regulate, and practicing a variety of coping skills to manage stressful situations.

Unit 3: Responsible Decision Making- Teaches students what it means to be a responsible and active classroom community member, how to problem solve and make decisions.

Unit 4: Social Awareness- Teaches students what it means to be respectful and how to interact with others, how to show empathy and understanding, accepting and appreciating diversity, and use effective social skills.

Unit 5: Relationship Skills- Teaches students how to interact with others: how to have a conversation, other important communication builders, how to be and make a friend, and what it means to be trustworthy.
