The Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning method for writing a scientific explanation is a great way to meet Next Generation Science Standards.
This newly updated activity has stood the test of time and remains ever popular with my students.
Students read an excerpt from The Titanic, make predictions, participate in an experiment, and then construct a CER.
Two optional graphic organizers are included to scaffold for student needs.
Once the activity has been completed, the CER could be completed in class or as homework. It also makes a wonderful CER assessment.
You also receive a rubric to assist in scoring.
