Description

This one page United States History reading passage discusses the original 13 American colonies. The passage:

  • explains that a colony is governed by another country, in this case England
  • explores reasons why colonists immigrated to America
  • discusses the consequences of colonization on the Native Americans already living in the area
  • examines why the colonies eventually sought independence from the British

The passage includes 10 multiple choice reading comprehension questions, an answer key, and 2 self-scoring digital versions - EASEL and Google Forms.
