The Thing About Jellyfish in a nutshell:

This is a coming-of-age story about grieving seventh grader, Suzanne Swanson, whose best friend has unexpectedly died and left her feeling a burden of guilt at how their friendship had painfully unraveled at the end of sixth grade. How does one learn to say goodbye and have a new beginning? Her passion for science helps her as she tries to make sense of it all and regain her footing in life but in the end it is the bonds of family and new friendships that rescue her.

The book includes lots of scientific facts, especially about jellyfish! Great for inspiring those budding scientists in your room. Also an excellent choice for students dealing with the death of a friend or loved one.

This book was written by Ali Benjamin, published in 2015, and was a National Book Award Finalist.

Also, a movie may be coming! Apparently Oddlot Entertainment has the screen rights to The Thing About Jellyfish, with Gigi Pritzker set to produce with Bruna Papandrea and Reese Witherspoon.
