Description

Our sun has a lot to teach us. With this mini unit, you'll be able to teach your students the basics about the Sun, radiation, light waves (frequency), the Greenhouse Effect, Earth's magnetic field, nuclear fusion, nuclear fission, Earths seasons (tilt), the sun's influence on earth (differential heating, photosynthesis), etc.

This unit begins with an 18-slide presentation. Students can notes as you go through the slides. This resource includes a student notes packet with fill-in-the-blanks. There are several prompts throughout the slides to check student understanding in their notes. You'll also have a teacher copy of the notes, with all of the answers filled in. This can help guide you as you go through the slides.

Also, if needed, you can give accommodations to students who do not do well with taking notes by giving them their own copy of the teacher notes. In doing so, they can still follow along with the notes without having to copy down all the answers.

After you finish going through the notes, the students will work through the 16-question study guide. The questions included come straight from the notes that they took, so they can use that packet to help them answer the questions.

Finally, students will take the 15 question quiz to help you assess the students' understanding of the material. The quiz includes multiple choice, fill-in-the-blanks, and three short answer questions.

The goal of this unit is to introduce students to the basics of the Sun, fission, fusion and the sun's influence on earth, it includes a lot of vocabulary.
