Lesson Objective: Students will be able to determine the theme of The Sour Grape by analyzing how the character changes.

Rigorous text dependent questions promote discussion, allowing students to discuss the Sour Grape's thoughts, feelings, and actions throughout story events. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to infer the theme based on how the sour grape changes. Three anchor chart options are included to collect text evidence. At the end of the lesson, students will answer the following question independently: What theme can be inferred from the way the Sour Grape changes from beginning to end? Support your theme with text evidence. Several differentiated assessment options are included.
