Description

This script on THE SOLAR SYSTEM involves students in reading and reviewing information about the celestial bodies that orbit the Sun. The script incorporates humor and contemporary language and references. It’s part of a collection in my book CURRICULUM-BASED READERS THEATRE SCRIPTS: SCIENCE.

This script is written for solo speakers with many parts for ALL so that teachers can use it with a whole class. Reading and rehearsing the script reinforces information and facts about the structure of the solar system (including a clarification about Pluto no longer having planet status!) while also increasing reading fluency and engaging students in a dramatic approach to learning facts. Students enjoy creating and performing gestures and sound effects where indicated in the stage directions. And—because it is a script—they do not mind reading and re-reading the information. This Curriculum-Based Readers Theatre script is one of many I have created with students and teachers across the United States.
