Description

Get the most out of the very engaging and accessible story, "The Sniper."

This product includes PDF and digital, Google Drive versions of the following:

  • A graphic organizer for students to use while watching a Ted Ed on the Potato Famine. This Ted Ed focuses on how the British were responsible for the lack of resources in Ireland during the famine (because the British mandated the export of all other resources leaving Ireland to be dependent on a single failed crop) which helps them to understand why Ireland could enter a civil war on whether or not to sign a treaty with Britain. ANSWER KEY INCLUDED

  • A series of guide questions to be answered throughout the reading of the text. The text itself is not included but can be found online. The guide questions focus on the sniper's mental and emotional state in order to help prepare students for a constructed response. ANSWER KEY INCLUDED

  • A constructed response prompt asking students if the sniper will continue his work after this fateful night. Students will need to refer back to their knowledge of Ireland and Britain's violent history, and will need to take into account the sniper's mental and emotional state in order to adequately answer this opinion-driven written response.
