Description

The following thirteen-page study guide film packet is used to accompany the Frank Darabont-directed 1994 drama film "The Shawshank Redemption" that stars Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. It can be used in an English or film studies classroom. The first page contains a list of cast and crew and a background and introduction on the film. The second page is a page that allows viewers to jot and take down their own notes. Pages three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, and eleven are comprehension questions to guide the viewer on the work's allusions, camera movement, characterization, cinematography, comic relief, conflict, costume design, editing, figurative language, foreshadowing, irony, lighting, mise en scene, mood, motifs, plot, point of view, red herrings, setting, sound, story, and symbolism. The twelfth and thirteenth pages contain discussion questions on the work's box office failure, characterization, genre characteristics, legacy, motifs, pacing, plot, point of view, sociocultural context, story, symbolism, and themes.

A multiple choice quiz that can be used as a summative assessment that pairs well with this packet, a formative assessment, is available as a separate purchase by clicking here.
