    Description

This bundle includes two resources to teach about the seven deadly sins and the corresponding virtues.

    1. The Guided Interactive Presentation- leads students through a discussion of the the seven deadly sins and the corresponding virtues. It is geared towards middle and high school students. You will want to break this up and do a few at a time so that you have time to for students to discuss using the "connect to self" discussion prompts included for each vice/virtue.

There are different types of discussion questions:

    1. Some questions suggest two teams discuss different aspects and then come back together to present their thoughts to the class.

    2. Other questions are for students to consider individually and then record their thoughts on the 2-sided recording sheet found at the end of the powerpoint file.

The only prep for the teacher is to make copies of the 2-sided recoding sheet. This presentation guides the students (and teacher!) through the lesson.

All of the virtues fight against each of the deadly sins. I have chosen the one that works most directly. You could match them in different ways and it would still be correct. The important part is understanding each of these deadly sins and realizing that virtue is needed to overcome them. It would be great to ask students to propose another virtue and explain how that virtue works as well.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE : The sin of lust is included. I have treated it as wanting something for the wrong reason and using another person physically in an inappropriate way. Please review that section before teaching this. If you would rather present it in a different way, you can delete my slides and add in your own for that vice. Lust is a difficult vice to explain when I don’t know the exact age/maturity of the students you will use this with.

    2. Bulletin Board-This is a Christian bulletin board that teaches about the seven deadly sins and the virtues that work against them. Each of the seven 8.5 X11 posters explains one of the deadly sins and the corresponding virtue. The title words are provided in three sizes, so you can choose the one that best fits your size bulletin board.

Please note that all of the virtues fight against each of the deadly sins. I have chosen the one that works most directly on each sin. You could match them in different ways and it would still be correct. The important part is for students to understand each of these deadly sins and realize that virtue is needed to overcome them. It would be great to ask students to propose another virtue that works against each of them and explain how that virtue works as well.

The interactive presentation alone is foundhere.
