Description

The purpose of this activity is to allow students to think critically to answer a seemingly simple question. In this case, it’s answer an old idiom that says a simple photograph can tell a story equivalent to over 1,000 words. The students will need to use the scientific method to determine a way to answer that question. They will also need to design a test to empirically show that one picture can generate a story/composition of over 1,000 words.

This is a FANTASTIC experiment to link science with language arts. Not only does it utilize the scientific method, it can also be used to help students expand on their ideas and include as much detail as possible. It can also be used to assist with test prep in the event of state testing.
