Interested in keeping students on task before a holiday? This highly engaging and exciting webquest can be completed individually, with partners, or in groups. The purpose of this webquest is for students to learn about science related to Thanksgiving from the changing of the leaves to the chemistry of baking. Students are led through components of a webquest: introduction, task, process, and final task. QR Codes or embedded links are used for easy access the sites.
This interactive activity begins with a brief history of the first Thanksgiving. The webquest then guides through exploring information, websites, and videos about different aspects of the holiday. As they work their way through the resources, they complete 40 questions. The activity ends with a few short video clips of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and an activity encouraging students to share what they are thankful for this year.
This is sure to be a hit before the holiday break! It allows students to have fun and engage in learning science in a fun way. They may even share some things they have learned around the Thanksgiving table with their own families!
Encourage students to read information and view videos completely before answering questions. They should revisit the text or video pausing where needed to get their answers.
