What educators are saying

This was a very informative source, it was good for the kids to see this format knowing that they will use it in the future.
The information on the Punic Wars was complete, and gave students a clear view of the differences between each one.

Description

The Punic Wars and the Expansion of Rome - Lessons and Activities:

The main objective of this lesson is for students to describe the causes, strategies used, and results of the Punic Wars.

Includes 17 slide PowerPoint with:

  • Do Now
  • Class Notes
  • Diagram
  • Video Links
  • Assessment Questions
  • Activity Instructions
  • Conclusion Question

There are 4 different combinations/options for the Activity.

Activity Option 1 – Students use the Reading: The Punic Wars: Rome vs. Carthage (700 words) and complete and worksheet with 9 questions on it.

Activity Option 2 - Students use the Reading: The Punic Wars: Rome vs. Carthage (700 words) and complete the Graphic Organizer. On this graphic organizer students are asked to describe: Causes, Strategies, Advantages/Disadvantages for each side, and Results of the 3 Punic Wars. Note that the main focus of the reading is on the second Punic war, so this section will have more content than the others.

Activity Option 3 – Students answer analysis questions to a DBQ. There are 9 Documents in total with images, primary, secondary sources, and maps. The instructor can divide these documents up among the class as they see fit.

Activity Option 4: The 9 Document DBQ also works very well with the Graphic Organizer from option 2. Instead of answering the questions, students can complete parts of this organizer using the documents too.

Full Keys for all activity options are included!

Digital Versions for each activity option are also provided. Students can complete and submit their work using the fillable PDF files!
