The Power of Your Words- Teaching Packet
- PDF
Description
Although I use this as a lesson in a Catholic-school setting, it can be used as a character based lesson in a public-school as well. I have included the printables for both a Catholic and public-school in this packet.
This is a powerful lesson which will have students reflecting on the power of their words and how their words impact others. It's a 19 page teaching packet, and it includes a variety of activities to use with the students. It wil hit home with all students and learning styles.
Included in the 19 page packet is:
-The Power of Words overhead transparency (Catholic school and public school version)
-The Power of Words worksheet (Catholic school and public school version)
-The Power of Words group activity (Catholic school and public school version)
-Teacher Notes explaining a very cool hands-on demonstration you'll do to allow the students to visual the power of words
-Don't Laugh At Me (song lyrics by Mark Wills) You must use this song to teach the power of words! It's moving and perfect for the students to listen to. It will hit home with them.
-Crumpled Paper Activity (explanation for teachers) Another very visual demonstration showing our kids the power of their words
-Mr. Peabody's Apples- Readers' Theater Script (This is the perfect reading activity to go along with this lesson. It's a great story and will be remembered by all.)
-Overhead Transparency to use after the lesson has been taught (allows students to reflect)
Enjoy! This really is an important lesson for our students to learn
