Depending on your teaching style and how much you elaborate and embellish, this PowerPoint introduction to The Outsiders could take anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour. When I use it, it takes an entire class period of fifty minutes. I have students take detailed notes in their notebooks. They are allowed to use the notes on the quiz. I also grade their notebooks at the end of each grading term.
