I loved the 1994 Lion King cartoon, so you can only imagine how happy I was to read that Disney was preparing to release a new one! Of course I went to the cinema to watch it, it was awesome! I knew I wanted to share it with my class as well, so I couldn’t wait until it could be available online to purchase! And now it is!
Luckily I had enough time to prepare this activity book with over 30 different activities, split into six sections – Before watching, Comprehension, Vocabulary, and Let’s dig deeper, and Extra.
Let’s have a look at what it’s inside.
Part 1 – Before watching: it’s a two page activity with prediction exercises and analyzing the official poster of the movie;
Part 2 – Comprehension: twelve comprehension questions about the movie, four pages on characters (Simba as a cub and then as an adult, the Scar and Pumbaa), and an arranging in chronological order of the events page;
Part 3 – Vocabulary: Definitions page with the most interesting (and maybe new) words from the movie, a Wordsearch and a Crossword Puzzle, all of interesting or new words encountered in or related to the movie, an animals names page with the species of other important character plus other animals seen in the movie, and a page for collective nouns, given the fact that the main characters in the movie come from a pride of lions.
Part 4 - Let’s dig deeper: Cause and effect page, Settings page, Story Map, Sequencing Events, Summarizing with SWBST, KWL Chart, and a Let’s think page with some of the most important quotes from the movie;
Part 5 – Further research: lyrics worksheets to the famous Lion King songs – Circle of Life, I Just Can’t Wait to Be King, Hakuna Matata, Can You Feel the Love Tonight? Comparing and contrasting using a Venn Diagram (1994 movie vs. 2019 movie), Story Teller Headbands.
