The Layering Tower of Density

This a great lab for 5th, 6th, or even 7th grade to perform. The lab uses different liquids and allows students to see how different substance have different densities. The lab begins by discussing the density of water and then predicting if other liquids will be less/more dense.

The practice problems review the density formula, allows them to slowly develop a formal lab report, and practice density problems on their own. Also, it allows students review subtracting decimals and answer questions by looking at a scientific density table.
