Description

This 5 day lesson plan for high school students includes everything you need to introduce your students to logic, logical fallacies and debate in an engaging way! I use it with my juniors before we do classroom policy debates. The movie is based on the true story of the Wiley College debate team in the 1930s, which was the first all black college debate team to debate a white college team and which has been a champion team since. The movie is riveting and inspirational, and I've never had a class who didn't like it.!

All documents are fully editable Word documents. All keys and extensive teacher notes are included.

In this zip file you will find:

1. A rhetorical appeals reference chart for students (separate file in zip)

2. A debate terms to know handout for students

3. A 62 slide Google Slides presentation explaining and practicing the terms to use as an introduction to debate and logic, including logical fallacies.

4. A note taking sheet for the logic section of the presentation.

5. A separate practice assignment for logical fallacies and syllogisms with key

6. A viewing guide with key

7. A multiple choice quiz of the terms and applying the terms to the movie
