The Gingerbread Man and the Leprechaun Loose at School: Book Companion

The Gingerbread Man and the Leprechaun Loose at School by Laura Murray is a fun St. Patrick's Day story (sold separately, online or in stores) that follows everyone's favorite Gingerbread Man. In March, a leprechaun arrives at school, leading the Gingerbread Man and class on a wild goose chase! Thanks to the Gingerbread Man's innovative thinking, a trap is set to catch the leprechaun.

This literature unit is filled with six different follow-up activities and games to target listening, language and literacy! Following reading, engage your students in activities targeting:

1. Sequencing with Pictures (which is also a great retelling tool!)

2. Comprehension Questions with two (picture) answer choices

3. The Book Hunt- An activity to find items in the book matching given attributes and functions

4. Rhyme Sort- Sort pictures with like rhymes

5. Spatial Concepts- Describe where the leprechaun is using prepositions

6. Compare and Contrast- Tell how items from the book are alike and different.
