This was perfect for my students when writing about something else the gingerbread man could run away from. Thanks!

Description

The Gingerbread Man Book Companion Writing Prompts

These fun and engaging Gingerbread Man writing activities are perfect for the original story of The Gingerbread Man and other story adaptations of the original such as The Ninjabread Man, The Gingerbread Baby, The Gingerbread Girl, etc. This will look perfect on any bulletin board! Just print out the writing templates and watch the creative writing come to life! These writing prompts can be used for Christmas or during Gingerbread Week/ Gingerbread Unit.

Included in this resource:

Choose a writing template for your students; there are 4 different prompts to choose from. They are differentiated based on writing skill level: fill in the blank sentence, trace and fill in the sentence, and a blank page to write your own sentence.

Writing Prompts:

“Run, Run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I’m the __________ Man!”
After reading the story Ninjabread Man by C.J. Leigh, have the students think of another type of Gingerbread Man that could go really fast and could get away from those who are trying to catch him.

“(Verb, Verb) as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man)”
After discussing what a verb is, brainstorm a list of different verbs besides “run” that the Gingerbread Man can do. Students will choose one to write about.

“I can run away from ___________, I can run away from you , too!
Students will write about what else the Gingerbread Man could be running away from! Maybe he runs away from a lion, or a witch, or even Santa (because we all know how much he loves cookies!)

“If I caught the Gingerbread Man, I would _______________.”
Students will write about what THEY would do if they caught the Gingerbread Man! Would they eat him? Would they take him home?
