Description

****To download this item, along with the ENTIRE Crucible Unit (including assessments, powerpoints for every act, powerpoints for activities, enrichment activities, supplemental articles and the complete 35 page student reader), please download "The Crucible Common Core Ready Unit - All you will need!" resource.***

Based off the movie (available on Netflix) with Daniel Day Lewis and Winona Ryder, these questions are more rigorous than "What's the difference between the play and the movie?".

12 Questions that analyze the director/screenwriter's purpose for making the decisions they did. Arthur Miller wrote the play, as well as the screenplay rendition, and these questions (2 pages + key) analyze his stylistic choices. Rather than asking students the difference, this worksheet tells students the key differences and has them determine its impact on the audience/character portrayals.

Questions include a description of what is different between the movie and play and a question that analyzes its purpose.

I gave these questions to my students and stopped at key points throughout the movie so students could answer. We began the movie around when we hit act 3 and watched in 30-45 minute intervals until the 2 hour movie was complete.

As a bonus, I included the Milgram Experiment article with questions. Following the reading/movie, we read the article and discussed it's relation of obedience to authority and The Crucible. We watched it with a short 2 minute clip from Youtube.

These movie questions are perfect for any class reading the Crucible, a drama class, or an English class with a multimedia focus.

File is 6 pages, including answer key.
